Bay Area Rockers Share Insights Behind Their Hard-Hitting New Single

Corvus Lore isn’t just making rock music — they’re crafting something real. Fresh off the release of their emotionally charged single Feather Me Through, the Bay Area quartet sat down with Guido Piraino for The PATH Radio Spotlight to talk about everything from lineup changes to studio secrets — and yes, the mysterious origins of “Red Cup.”

But don’t expect them to spill everything. This conversation isn’t just about what’s said — it’s about what’s felt. The interview captures the heart and heat of a band pushing their boundaries, both creatively and personally.

Saying Goodbye and Welcoming “Red Cup”

One of the most significant changes for Corvus Lore is the addition of bassist Johan “Red Cup” Hill, replacing longtime member Mike Oneto. The band gives a heartfelt farewell to Mike, praising his decade-long contributions, while also celebrating Johan’s Bay Area legacy and immediate chemistry with the group.

Why the nickname “Red Cup”? Even the band isn’t totally sure — but his red-dyed beard and custom bass knobs shaped like little red cups may be a clue. The mystery lives on.

“Feather Me Through”: From Personal Grief to Universal Connection

Lead vocalist Ryan Jones opens up about the loss of his father and how it inspired the lyrical depth of Feather Me Through. While written from a place of grief, the track resonates with themes of hope and emotional resilience. The vulnerability is palpable, and the result is one of the most powerful and cathartic tracks the band has released to date.

Guitarist Eric Fraser brings it full circle with his soaring solos and layered tones, adding a haunting contrast that lifts the song beyond its sorrowful roots.

Authentic Rock, No Compromise

True to their ethos, Corvus Lore continues to avoid backing tracks in favour of raw, real instrumentation — from hand-built amps to vintage-inspired gear. The interview gives a taste of their creative process, including a fascinating dive into how Eric blends guitars and amps to create depth in every track.

Whether it’s the punch of a Gibson Explorer or a Friedman combo amp on full blast, it’s all real, and it all shows up in the music.

Cinematic Storytelling in Their Music Videos

Known for visually stunning videos like Boxing Ballerina and Blind and Broken, the band shares behind-the-scenes tales from the set of Feather Me Through — including face-planting in snowstorms and using indoor snow machines to bring their vision to life.

Ryan’s passion for storytelling through visuals is just as strong as his songwriting, and the band promises more ambitious videos ahead.

Album 3 in the Works — But on Their Terms

While their label is eager for a new album drop, Corvus Lore is taking the time to “get it right.” They’re crafting each track carefully, making sure every lyric and riff earns its place. No filler. No shortcuts. Just the same commitment to quality that fans have come to expect.

What’s Next for Corvus Lore?

The band hints at possible touring beyond California and even international dates — but nothing’s set in stone just yet. What is certain is that Corvus Lore is just getting started. Album 3 is coming. More videos are coming. And if you caught even a glimpse of their recent interview, you know they’re not slowing down.
