TORONTO, ON —

Encore, encore.

After selling out her first Toronto book launch at the AGO in record time, Canadian alternative icon Melissa Auf der Maur returns for a special second event as part of Wavelength Music Festival + Conference 2026.

Titled “Nineties Tea Time”, this intimate afternoon gathering at beloved Dundas West venue The Garrison will see Auf der Maur in conversation with Toronto music journalist and influential music discovery voice Emilie Hanskamp. Together, they will unpack the stories behind her long-awaited memoir, Even the Good Girls Will Cry: A ’90s Rock Memoir (Da Capo Press).

Part rock memoir, part travel diary, part psychedelic scrapbook, Even the Good Girls Will Cry is a quarter-century in the making. The book offers a vivid, intimate dispatch from Auf der Maur’s time as bassist for Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins, capturing the last analog decade in all its messy, angsty, transcendent glory. More than a backstage chronicle, it is a soulful meditation on art, identity, mysticism, and survival in the high-voltage world of ’90s alternative rock.

The March 22 encore event serves as the coda to an entire Melissa Auf der Maur weekend at Wavelength 2026. The program also includes:

  • An xMAdMx Darkwave DJ set

  • A curated performance evening co-presented by Basilica Hudson

  • A special collaboration with Basilica SoundScape, the Hudson, NY–based festival known for its boundary-pushing music and multidisciplinary programming
