Multi-Juno Winner Tom Wilson (Tehoháhake) Releases Powerful New Video

Tom Wilson (Tehoháhake) Releases Powerful New Video “We Live In Dreams,” Co-Written With Tanya Talaga
TORONTO, ON — Multi-JUNO Award-winning artist Tom Wilson (Tehoháhake) unveils his powerful new video for “We Live In Dreams,” a deeply moving collaboration with acclaimed Anishinaabe journalist, author, and filmmaker Tanya Talaga. The release stands as a luminous expression of Indigenous resilience, cultural pride, and the enduring strength of community.
Produced by Tom Wilson and mixed by Gary Furniss at The Stonehouse, “We Live In Dreams” is a stirring anthem rooted in truth, storytelling, and emotional depth. The track serves as the emotional centrepiece of the upcoming documentary Ni-Naadamaadiz: Red Power Rising, directed by Shane Belcourt and produced by Talaga’s company Makwa Creative.
The documentary brings renewed attention to a pivotal and often overlooked chapter in Canadian history—the 1974 land-back occupation led by Louis Cameron, an Indian Residential School Survivor and founder of the Ojibway Warriors Society. The movement drew support from the American Indian Movement and culminated in the historic Native Caravan to Parliament Hill. Belcourt, who also directed the music video, delivers a visually compelling extension of the film’s unflinching narrative.
Born from a creative partnership between two of Canada’s most vital Indigenous voices, the song channels the spirit of resistance and healing at the heart of the documentary. Talaga—renowned for her groundbreaking works Seven Fallen Feathers and All Our Relations, as well as the Canadian Screen Award-winning docuseries The Knowing—joins Wilson in crafting a piece that resonates far beyond the music itself.
“We are here to give everything we’ve got to honour the warrior hearts… We are here to tell the truth. We are here to stand for love and we are here to win with love,” says Wilson.
A celebrated figure in Canadian music, Wilson’s career spans decades of influential work with Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Lee Harvey Osmond, and Junkhouse, alongside his bestselling memoir Beautiful Scars. “We Live In Dreams” marks a profound continuation of his artistic mission—bridging music, identity, and truth through storytelling.
Ni-Naadamaadiz: Red Power Rising premieres on CBC Channel 1 on May 24, 2026 at 9 PM ET, with streaming available on CBC Gem beginning June 1, 2026. “We Live In Dreams” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
The single was released with support from the Ontario Arts Council.
