Toronto bilingual artist recognized for debut album He Sanado Varias Cosas

Toronto– Toronto-based bilingual artist Mario Puglia has earned a JUNO Award nomination for Latin Music Recording of the Year. The recognition comes for his debut album He Sanado Varias Cosas, released via ABC Music.

The nomination marks a major milestone for the Toronto-raised singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Puglia’s sound blends Indie Pop, R&B, and Latin Urban influences, creating music that connects with both English and Spanish-speaking audiences.

Juno-Award-Trophy MARIO PUGLIA: JUNO NOMINATION LATIN MUSIC RECORDING OF THE YEARThe JUNO Awards Gala Presented by Music Canada takes place March 28 in Hamilton, Ontario. Meanwhile, the national broadcast will air live on CBC and CBC Gem on March 29, with global streaming on CBC Music’s YouTube channel.

A bilingual artist bridging cultures

Mario Puglia writes, produces, and performs his own music. He also moves naturally between Spanish and English in his songwriting.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, and raised in Toronto, Puglia brings both cultural worlds into his work. As a result, his music reflects a unique mix of global influences.

The artist describes his music as a creative refuge. It speaks to listeners who feel connected to more than one place or identity.

An album about healing and growth

The album title He Sanado Varias Cosas translates to “I’ve Healed Several Things.”

However, the phrase is intentionally incomplete.

Instead of claiming total healing, the album focuses on progress. The songs explore emotional themes such as self-worth, anxiety, identity, nostalgia, forgiveness, and joy.

Puglia wrote the album across several cities and different moments in his life. As a result, the record feels like a journey rather than a final destination.

Musically, the album blends organic instrumentation with contemporary pop production. The result is a warm and layered sound that reflects Puglia’s personal story.

Two singles highlight the album’s message

Two singles from the album offer a closer look at its themes.

The first is “Paz y Felicidad.” Puglia wrote the song during a writing retreat near Medellín, Colombia with producers Juan Cerro, Geogy Mills, and Pablo Melov.

The inspiration came from two Golden Retrievers at the retreat named Paz and Felicidad. The dogs spent their days chasing guests with a tennis ball.

For Puglia, the moment became symbolic.

“Peace and happiness are always chasing us,” he explains. “But we often push them away because we feel distracted or overwhelmed.”

The song’s video was filmed at Centro Ítalo in Caracas, where Puglia spent part of his childhood.

The second single, “vision board,” explores a different emotional space. Puglia wrote the track in Mexico City during a period of heavy travel and personal change.

The song reflects what he calls the duality of growth. It balances nostalgia for the past with gratitude for the present.

Its video was filmed in La Guaira, Venezuela, the coastal neighbourhood where Puglia grew up. The video features archival footage of his parents and childhood memories, including surfing and everyday family life.

A rising voice in Canada’s Latin music scene

With this JUNO nomination, Mario Puglia enters a wider national spotlight.

His debut album introduces a thoughtful and emotionally open voice within Canada’s growing Latin music community. At the same time, his bilingual songwriting allows the music to reach listeners across cultures.

Ultimately, He Sanado Varias Cosas captures the experience of growth in real time. It offers music for people navigating change while learning to stay present.

The album is available now on all major streaming platforms.

Winners will be announced at The JUNO Awards Gala Presented by Music Canada on March 28 in Hamilton, with the national broadcast airing March 29 on CBC, CBC Gem, and CBC Music’s YouTube channel.
